Jesus Christ

“God so loved the World that He gave his only begotten Son, that who so ever believeth on should not perish but have everlasting life”

–St. John 3:16

Son of God

Jesus Christ or ישוע המשיח if you prefer Hebrew.

Jesus of Nazareth was born over 2000 years ago in the town of Bethlehem, but his life did not start there. The Man known as Jesus was known by a different name before, Jehovah, the God of Israel. Most times that He was mentioned in the KJV Old testament Jehovah was translated as GOD or LORD , in all caps.

He was selected from all of God’s spirit children as the most faithful and the one that would come to earth to redeem the faithful from their short comings. To do this Jesus had to live a sinless life and give his life to pay for the sins of all man kind.

Logic Riddle:  If perfection gets Eternal Life and Imperfection gets Eternal Damnation. What happens when the perfect take the punishment for the imperfect?

Jesus did just this. He lived a life without sin, he volunteered his life and died for us.

He was truly the Son of God, born from the virgin Mary. Many accuse us of making God carnal by assuming that we believe that God was truly Jesus’s Father in the reproductive sense. I want to point out that it is matter of record in the Bible that Mary was taking into the presents of God at the conception of Christ, BUT we know that even after that she is still considered a virgin. How it happened, only God knows. Any assumption to the contrary is blasphemy in mine and any other Christian Religion I have ever studied.

The Life of Jesus

As I said above, He lived a sinless life. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t given temptations it means he didn’t give in. We all are tempted to do things God does not want us to, it is when we surrender our agency to the temptation that we sin. Jesus did not surrender but humbly served through out his life. He spent his life showing us an example to how to live.

He taught us about the need for faith, repentance, baptism, and enduring in our faith.

I love the sermon on the Mount as found in Matthew it is a brilliantly simple list of expectations and the blessings that go along with them.

Jesus Christ was the messenger from God that was predicted in the Old Testament. He is the only way that man kind can be redeemed from the fallen state they are in. For all sin and come short of the glory of God.

He made this possible in a logical but improbable way through what we call the atonement.

His Death

The failure of any christian to see the importance of every detail mentioned in the last days of Jesus’ life is a failure to grasp the meanings of their convictions.

The atonement is a word that means what is says AT-ONE-ment. It is the process that we become at one with God through Christ’s sacrifice. the parts include the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus felt the pains sicknesses and sorrows of the entire world, second on the cross of Calvary where he was killed and was completed in the Garden Grave where he was resurrected.

This opened the hope that we can be forgiven of our sins, redeemed from death, and resurected from death to be lifted to God in perfection.

This was Christ’s mission.
